Normally I would not do a report on something that is so close to my house, but... what a great wave. The 36th street wave is located on 36th street and the Boise river in downtown Boise ID. This wave comes in at around 4500 cfs and I dont believe I will ever see it get high enough to go out. The wave is caused by a low head dam, that is scheduled to be removed and replaced with a kayak playpark sometime ???who knows when???
Although the kayaking is good right now, (and it is really good) the wave only happens once every 10 years. (on average) The kayak playpark will be a better option for playboating year round. The money for the park is currently tied up in the parks and recreation budget, and the mayor has been building soccer fields, and other things instead of the park with the money.
If you are interested in seeing the park go in, and playboating Boise, please call (208-384-4404) and tell the Boise mayor where your interests lie. This number is a recorded message, just leave your vote after the beep. (no soccer moms please)
