Conditions of acceptance: Maximum dimensions of 115 inches and maximum weight of 100 lbs for checked baggage More than that checked as freight. Only kayaks of polyethylene construction are acceptable.

Kayaks of glass construction are not accepted.

Passenger must sign limited release tag.

Baggage Charges: Kayaks that exceed 62 inches or 50 lbs are subject to an excess fee.

If the item is oversized and overweight, only one fee is collected.

One set of kayak paddles may be included in this fee, and must be securely taped to the kayak or boxed.

Alaska does not provide accommodating paddle boxes at the counter.

Oversize charges: 63-80 in. 50USD 81-115 in. 75USD Overweight charges: 51-70 lbs 25USD 71-100 lbs 50USD

Beat the system.

1. The baggage oversize/overweight charges are for Horizon Air flights also. So whats the difference between a bag and a kayak?

2. "If the item is oversized and overweight, only one fee is collected." so ask them to charge you for the overweight charge, (51-70 lbs 25USD) or get your money's worth and pack the boat to 99 lbs.

3. Oversize bags are charged Width + Height + Length so make sure that you don't have paddles sticking out, or a bulky bag.
